Proposal 101 Adulteration Study Committee Report 2024
The NCIMS Adulteration Prevention Study Committee developed a Best Practices: Preventing Accidental Adulteration of Milk and Dairy Products with Chemical Sanitizers: July 25, 2024
This document shall serve as recommended best practices for the dairy industry to identify and implement proactive measures needed to address accidental sanitizer adulteration of Grade “A” dairy products.
In addition to the Best Practices document, the committee requested clarification from the FDA regarding a potential conflict between conducting sensory evaluations (flavoring) of product on the production floor and the requirements outlined in current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs), which prohibit eating or drinking in production areas. The FDA has determined that no conflict exists. A letter to NCIMS detailing this conclusion is available here: FDA Letter to NCIMS re tasting of product and GMPs, July 8, 2025.
